Girl Scouts exists for girls, but it exists because of volunteers. By giving your time and talent, you can make it possible for girls to build character and skills for success in the real world. Research shows the influence one caring adult has on a child will last a lifetime. No matter what your interests, age or amount of time you can offer, Girl Scouts needs your help to provide opportunities for girls to build their courage, confidence and character. We will match your interests with the needs of girls, and work around your busy schedule. Training is provided for all volunteer positions.

Types of Volunteers

Following are a few of the primary ways you can volunteer to work directly with girls.

Girl Scout Troop or Series Volunteer: Have an immediate impact on the lives of girls in your community by serving as a role model, mentor, friend and leader. You can develop a variety of skills through training and explore new adventures. Work with girls year round in a troop or for six to eight sessions in a series.
  • Troop – Year long, long term position working directly with girls
  • Series  – 6 – 8 sessions working directly with girls

Troop Committee Member: Serve as a positive adult role model by providing direct support to the Girl Scout Leader to plan, carry out and achieve the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

Service Team/Unit Volunteers:  Support the delivery of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to girls and adults within the local community by extending membership, providing direct support to members, educating the community about Girl Scouts and acting as a communication center for Girl Scouts.

Adult volunteers are essential to make the Girl Scout Leadership Experience available to girls.  Each adult, regardless of the position she/he holds - volunteer or paid staff, contributes to helping girls by supporting the mission “Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. We recognize that by enriching our volunteers’ experience in Girl Scouting, we enrich girls’ experience.
